Homeschool with a little Valentine’s cheer this year! These free Valentine’s Day uppercase and lowercase letters worksheets are sure to make alphabet letter review more fun!
Reviewing alphabet letters can sometimes be a little mundane and hard to push through. Let’s make it more fun by adding in the beauty of Valentine’s Day love and cheer!
What’s Covered in These Free Valentine’s Day Alphabet Worksheets?
There are FIVE free Valentine’s Day uppercase and lowercase letters worksheets. Each worksheet reviews a different skill in alphabet letter recognition.
The first worksheet helps your child practice the skill of recognizing the difference between uppercase and lowercase letters, as well as writing lowercase letters.
The second worksheet addresses the name of each letter. It’s very important for your child to see a letter at random and be able to say the name of that letter. This is the very first step in reading words!
The third worksheet gives your child a letter at random and has him/her writing the letter that comes before the letter shown. And the fourth worksheet has him/her writing the letter that comes after the letter shown. These are excellent alphabetical order exercises. If your child knows his/her letters and their order backwards and forwards, alphabetical order will be a piece of cake!
NOTE: There are many educators coming out now with learning systems where alphabet letters are not taught in order. Although I respect this line of thought and understand why it’s being done, I don’t agree with it. Learning letters in alphabetical order can be a positive tool that has the power to literally impact the rest of one’s life! It is KEY to maintaining good organization of information–which is HIGHLY important for jobs, businesses, and even everyday life!
The fifth and final worksheet introduces the important skill of listening! With this drill, the teacher will need to say a letter at random (any uppercase or lowercase letter), and the student will need to write this letter in between the lines. I believe this is the true test to see if your child REALLY knows his/her letters!
