About These Prewriting Worksheets
Your child has been plugging away at right and left diagonal lines! Now it’s time to put them together to form the x shape!
This shape is one of the 9 prewriting shapes/strokes your child should master before moving on to uppercase and lowercase letters!
In this set of worksheets, students will get in one last practice with tracing right and left diagonal lines individually. Then, they will jump into tracing them as one x shape. In the beginning, they will trace this shape in individual boxes. By the end of this set, your children will be directed to search for and trace this shape at random in a given picture.
What is Prewriting Anyway?
Early prewriting involves the process of developing the skills needed for writing, such as learning how to hold a pencil, how to use a pencil, and how to make individual shapes and strokes.
Why is Prewriting Important?
Prewriting gives your child the chance to learn how to write at a slower, steadier pace.
It provides a step-by-step approach to writing that helps first-time writers tackle different shapes/strokes, one at a time.
By gradually introducing each stroke, children are being set up for success as they prepare for the multiple, combined strokes they’ll encounter in each letter of handwriting.
